19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

His defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an better serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
